Vitamin C is considered as a great addition to skincare routine. It not only provides antioxidants benefits but also provides a brightening effect on skin. However its not the easiest to incorporate if you have sensitive skin. I therefore stayed away from Vitamin C from fear of irritation. Furthermore, I hear that vitamin C is a very difficult ingredient to formulate and as such oxides quickly meaning when it is exposed to oxygen in the air it’s potency dramatically reduces. Like many ingredients, my concern with Vitamin C, was how much of it, is actually making a difference or just appearing to make a difference. I luckily came across two great products that have not only been great on my sensitive skin but also given great benefits.

Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Care Serum
This serum is stated to be made from 70% green tangerine extract which is stated to help with minimizing the appearance of blemishes and dark spots and help with brightening of the skin overall. The other key ingredient is niacinamide which contributes to the brightening of the skin. This product is targeted towards those with sensitive skin meaning even those with not sensitive skin can benefit from it. It is stated to be a hypoallergenic serum and that it has passed A skin irritation test and is free from 18 harmful ingredients. It has a gel like texture and has a transparent yellow colour.
It does feel tacky when you apply to skin but you only need a small amount and once you rub this onto the skin it goes on well but it is best to wait a couple minutes before applying another product. I can attest this is great on sensitive skin as did not cause any irritation on my very sensitive skin. I did see some brightening effect after few days but it was after consistent daily use after a couple months and I realised that my skin looked overall very bright and other people commented on this too. The serum defiantly helped my overall skin look brighter and made my dark sports from hyperpigmentation get lighter but it definitely did not make them disappear but it definitely helped. Overall I would give this an 8 out of 10.
Benton Vitamin C Serum
As mentioned above vitamin C can easily oxides when exposed to oxygen in the air and as a result loses its effectiveness, therefore formulation of vitamin C products is key in its effectiveness. It clear that Benton has taken this into account when they formulated the Benton Vitamin C Serum. This serum is waterless and comes in an opaque white bottle which helps with preventing it from oxidizing. The serum contains 20% pure vitamin C and also glutathione, tocopherol, tocotrienol, and ferulic acid. The serum is described as dense due to the lack of water in the formula. The serum comes out as thick white cream. It needs bit of more application to the skin than a regular cream but it eventually sinks into the skin and its best to wait a couple minutes before applying another product.

Despite this serum containing 20% vitamin C serum it did not irritate my skin at all. I can see why as the serum is stated to be dermatologically tested, free of artificial fragrances, free of artificial colorants, free of volatile alcohol, free of surfactants. When I initially applied the serum, my skin did look a bit brighter bit it was after using it for a few weeks that I really saw than my skin was glowing and evened out too and my dark sports got lighter. Overall I would give this a 8.5 out of 10 as I feel the formulation made my skin bit more brighter than the Goodal, Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Care Serum.
